The last hour with Thomas Wermelinger

Thomas Wermelinger talks about his son Liam and his cancer diagnosis. He talks about the difficult months of the illness, which the whole family spent largely in hospital and which were associated with a lot of pain and fear. But they were also wonderful months, Thomas emphasizes. The parents and grandparents were always by Liam’s side and enjoyed the time they had with him.
They were determined to give Liam all available therapies as long as he showed that he wanted to continue living.
On May 6, 2018, despite everything, Liam’s heart stopped beating. “Liam was so strong and always got back up after setbacks. But in the end it was too much for him and his little body. When we realized that Liam didn’t want to keep fighting, we let him go with a very heavy heart.”

Shortly after Liam’s death, his parents set up the “Little Big Hero” foundation. It aims to make hospital stays easier for children and their parents who, like Liam, have been in hospital for a long time by offering various services. Every franc donated goes 100% towards the projects.

Eis am Sender – Februar 2022

My 1st episode of the year (Happy NY btw!) is quite different from this one.
…With Thomas, I would like to introduce you to a completely different person in this episode.
Despite the tragic death of his son Liam, he has brought something wonderful and very important to life.
You can hear what his childhood cancer foundation “little big hero” is all about and how the story of little Liam is very moving when you press “play”.
